Dr. Fung obtained
his clinical and research pediatric urologic fellowship training
at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, and the Children's
Hospital in Boston. Dr. Fung provides a full spectrum of pediatric
urologic clinical services based at the University of Minnesota.
Among his
many innovations, he has pioneered the reimplantation of ureters
using laparoscopic technique, for the treatment of primary vesicoureteral
reflux. He currently holds the world's largest experience in this
area. He is also a national authority in obstructive uropathy,
and offers innovative solutions to a wide range of the most challenging
surgical reconstructions.
Dr. Fung's
research interests include genitourinary tissue engineering using
multi-potent progenitor cells, non-invasive quantitation of renal
function using dynamic nuclear medicine imaging, and bladder smooth
muscle molecular signaling under pathological obstructive conditions.
